Slicer allows you to take solid shapes and break them up into different slices, allowing you to make very interesting geometry, but also allows you to export these different slices to a CNC routing machine, helping you create real models from these shapes in real life. This allows for the creation of more complex shapes and objects by using a complex target shape. One of the most powerful extensions for SketchUp is flowify, which allows you to bend geometry based on a target shape with 4 corners. However, this extension, created by Fredo6, allows you to actually animate moving geometry.
One of the areas where a base SketchUp installation lacks a bit is in the animation functions. This year, I’m still featuring FredoScale, specifically for its radial bend tool, but with a catch – I’m also recommending a new extension from Thom Thom that allows you to bend objects along a 360 degree radius, while FredoScale only bends objects along 180 degrees. Last year, I featured FredoScale for its ability to bend objects within SketchUp.
